So you may notice that I haven't been posting on here for a while now. Its not because I haven't been drawing, but rather I have been posting my stuff on DeviantArt.com. I like the environment there and I encourage everyone I know to post there. However I don't want to neglect this blog so I'll be trying to keep it up to date as well as my DeviantArt account. Here's some breakdowns for an old Seneca animation assignment. I went over it again today and I think its a marked improvement over the original. I'm considering throwing this piece on my demo reel once its smoothed over, what do you guys think?

Just got back from watching 300 with my good buddy Kyle. Zack Snyder did an awesome job adapting Frank Miller's work while throwing in some additions that compliment the story that Miller was trying to tell. If you haven't seen it yet, then do yourself a favor and go. Great entertainment.

Today's Justice League pick is Ryan Reynolds as the Flash. I don't like this one as much as the others. There are a lot of problems with it but I still had fun doing it. Maybe I'll fix it up in the future if I still care....

WONDER WOMAN

Just a quick update. Warner Bros recently announce that they are developing a script for a Justice League Movie. Being the geek that I am I immediately started thinking of a dream cast. Here's my pick for the role of Wonder Woman, the lovely Kate Beckinsale....

I drew this one from reference which I now regret cause it ended up looking a bit stiff. Also, I need to figure out a good technique to paint metallic surfaces. I had fun doing this though, so I think I'll do some more.

Blast From the Past!

First off, I'm sorry that I haven't posted lately cause I know that there are legions of people out there who eagerly await for each and every new post on this blog. School was eating up a lot of my attention as I'm kinda struggling to understand this new fangled 3D stuff that kids today seem to be so fond of. And the next 2 weeks are looking like murder as the assignments have stacked up.

2 days ago I finally caved in and signed up for Facebook. I have since then become hopelessly addicted to it. Meeting up with some old friends have brought up a sense of nostalgia so I decided to look at some of my old artwork before I signed up for animation. Here's a sample:

This was a drawing I did for fun when I was 13.

I think this was a ink drawing for Arts York when I was 14. I'm not too sure....

Another drawing from 14, when Samurai's were cool.

Watercolor test I did when I was 14/15, can't really remember.

Thats it for now, but I promise that I will post new material by the end of the week. And you can take that to the bank, the money bank.

So here's the deal. I wake up thursday morning only to rember to my utter horrer that i forgot to do my acting assignment which happened to be due on that particular day. I had exactly 40 minutes to shower, get dressed, and design a character with a complete history and fully developed personality that would be reflected in a complete write and a finished illustration. No problem right? I decided the best way to proceed was to do a quick sketch and then write some meaningless giberish on paper afterwards. Designing characters have always been a time wasting endeavor for me cause i play around with little things like pose, style, and porportion way too much so i never get to the important things like design and personality. So I took out some animation paper and came up with a rough sekelton that i used as a template that i could work with a use to create a managable illustration in 15 minutes. Here's what I got.

This rough skeleton helped me keep proportions and pose. Plus it reminds me of Calista Flockhart. Zing!

Roughing the design and personality. I was going for the classic sexy spunky spacegal stereotype.

Alternate rough I had. I thought the pose was a tad too aggressive for what i had written about her.

Online courses are the devil. Or at least the bane of my existence. This is the third time (THIRD!) that I have tried to do an online course for one of those stupid mandatory general education courses that every college and university seem to senselessly enforce upon their students to take. As with my other attempts to complete such a course I have experienced technical difficulties and due to my inability to maintain a schedule, I have already misssed 3 deadlines for various assignments. Tomarrow I will march with great pride down to the registration office and drop the blasted thing. I should have listen to Homer, "trying is the first step to failure!"

Anyway, here's a quick update with 2 pieces from my sketchbook. One is a rendering of Solid Snake in his duds from the much anticipated MGS4. The other is a bunch of doodles of cartoon birds. Just trying to see what kinda personalities I could come up with. The middle one kinda reminds me of the Godpigeon from Animanics. God I miss that show.

Holy Crap! It's Joe Mad!

Last Tuesday, my good friend Ricardo (blog pending) and I was hanging around a bus stop when he proposed to do a weekly colouring thing. The rules are simple, every week we decide on a piece of linework that we both admire and we both colour our on version of the same artwork. Since both Ricardo and I are still learning how to digitally paint, this is a great excerise to flex those ol' colour theory muscles. Unfortunately I am very weak and skinny. My friends encourage to visit the gym more often but I tell them to f*** off. I don't need society to tell me how to look.......

Anyways, here's my first submission to the colouring excercise. Ricardo picked some artwork from the ever awesome Joe Mad. I went with earthly tones for this piece and kept the shading fairly straight forward. Maybe with future pieces I'll try to be more daring. Anyhow, enjoy my fumbling and stumbling across the canvas!

I've been back to school for about three weeks now, and all I ever hear from my fellow peers is about my blog.

I have since grown sick of the constant guilt my so called friends have bestowed upon so I finally caved in and decided this morning that i will update my blog.......

Unfortunately it seems that I have not updated my blog in so long that I have forgotten both my username and my password for my old blog. I know, I know, you don't have to say it, my father already tells me I'm an idoit on a daily basis. So in great shame I have created a new blog account which I have cleverly entitled Avinash Kishundat V2.0. Now, on to the nitty gritty...

ARTWORK!!!!!!! YAAAYYY!!!!!!!!

Just did some quick sketches of some rather lovely ladies since i do like my pinup art. I've been looking at Chris Sanders stuff recently so this batch of buxom beauties all have a more rounded, weighted feeling similar to Sanders' style. Another thing i've been conciously doing is trying to come up with different and interesting poses for each drawing. It helps me challenge my understanding of structure and anatomy. Oh, and i threw a monkey in there to mix things up. Enjoy, and please leave some feedback (good or bad) otherwise I'm just gonna get lazy again and forget my login.......

I like to imagine that girls spend all their time in their underwear when i can't see them. Does that make me sad?
